About Cala de Mijas
The small coastal town of Cala de Mijas belongs to the municipality of Mijas which in turn is situated in the province of Malaga, on the coast line of the Costa del Sol along with other legendary destinations like Torremolinos, and Fuengirola.
Cala de Mijas until the 60s was always devoted to agriculture and fisheries, but as happened with other parts of the Costa del Sol, with the arrival of the tourism business, Cala de Mijas has adapted to changing times and trends.
Of those days only remain standing the four towers that were built during the sixteenth century with the aim of spotting enemy fleets so they could give advance notice to key cities such as Fuengirola and Marbella. Of these four towers, the latest is built in the nineteenth century called Torre Nueva de La Cala del Moral.
