Almeria, Andalucia

The city is the capital of the province with the same name and belongs to the autonomous community of Andalusia. Almeria is bathed by the Mediterranean Sea and is noteworthy for having a large part of desert territory in the interior, which for decades has been used many times to film Westerns. The population of Almeria does not reach more than 190,000 inhabitants and its economy is based in part on the large number of greenhouses used for growing all kinds of fruits to be sold both at national and European level. The port of Almeria is a major trading point with a constant arrival of cargo ships.

The airport is situated in the outskirts, at a distance of only 10 kilometres to the city. Almeria has two other key destinations nearby: Roquetas de Mar at 23 kilometres and Cabo de Gata at 29 km, both coastal towns with a great tourist attraction during summer.
